Overview of the Role

We are looking for an experienced Technical Advisor to serve as the BYD technical expert within our workshop operations. In this role, you will provide advanced diagnostic support to Service Advisors and Technicians, ensuring vehicle concerns are accurately diagnosed and resolved right the first time. You will interact directly with customers to understand and verify vehicle symptoms, conduct road tests where required, and guide technicians through complex repair processes. Your expertise will play a key role in delivering exceptional customer experiences, improving workshop efficiency, and strengthening brand reputation through first-time-fix excellence.

 

What You Will Do

Customer Interaction

  • Engage directly with customers to understand and verify advanced vehicle concerns.
  • Conduct vehicle inspections and road tests to accurately confirm reported symptoms.
  • Clearly communicate diagnostic findings and repair solutions to customers.
  • Build customer confidence through professional technical consultation and effective concern resolution.
  • Contribute to enhanced customer satisfaction and loyalty by ensuring first-time-fix outcomes.

Vehicle Warranty Repair Management

  • Ensure all warranty repair processes are followed in accordance with principal and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Review and validate warranty approval reports submitted by diagnostic technicians, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Ensure timely submission of supporting documentation required for warranty claims.
  • Analyze technical reports and communicate outcomes to workshop teams.
  • Act as the workshop's technical leader, providing coaching and guidance based on information received from Head Office and the Principal.

Diagnostic Tools & Equipment

  • Ensure all diagnostic tools and equipment are available, operational, and updated according to distributor and manufacturer standards.
  • Monitor and maintain workshop diagnostic equipment to ensure maximum reliability and efficiency.
  • Conduct regular audits of diagnostic tools and equipment to support operational excellence.

Risk Management

  • Ensure full compliance with HSSE, 5S, and workplace safety standards.
  • Adhere to all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), technical bulletins, and memorandums issued by Head Office and/or the Principal.
  • Promote a safe, organized, and efficient work environment.

Training & Development

  • Partner with the Al-Futtaim Automotive Talent Centre (AATC) to assess and develop diagnostic technicians.
  • Support capability-building initiatives aligned with Head Office and Principal standards.
  • Identify development opportunities through performance and work-output analysis.
  • Deliver on-the-job training, coaching, and technical mentoring to workshop technicians.
  • Foster a continuous learning and improvement culture within the workshop.

What Equips You for the Role

  • Degree or High School Diploma in Automotive Technology or a related field.
  • IMI or equivalent EV/PHEV certification is preferred.
  • Valid UAE Driving License (mandatory).
  • Minimum 5 years of experience within an automotive dealership workshop environment.
  • At least 2 years in a similar Technical Diagnostic role, or Minimum 3 years as a Diagnostic Master Technician.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Arabic language skills are highly preferred.
