Overview of the role:

 

The Cards & Payments Unit has following group-wide objectives across all geographies: 

  • Top Line Growth: Drive growth in digital (non-cash) spend across all Divisions and Brands
  • Cost Reduction: Reduce the cost of payment acceptance (Digital Payments) across the Group including supporting the Divisions and Brands reduce their cost of sale (non-payments related costs e.g. marketing etc)
  • Customer Centricity: Enhance customer engagement for the Divisions and Brands by leveraging digital payment solutions and technologies
  • Customer Knowledge: Enhance the collection of customer data (specifically associated with payment data)
  • Group-wide Digital Transformation: Support the digital transformation (on how we engage with our customers and suppliers) for the Group and improve ROI across existing and new customer-facing digital initiatives 
  • Financially sustainable programs: Identifying, launching and managing financially sustainable digital payment programs for the group

 

The Cards & Payments Unit is responsible for the overall Product Lifecycle Management for all digital payment products and programs across the group (Note: The extent of the control over the product lifecycle of our products or the payment programs will vary based on agreement with the different business units).  In certain cases, the team will be wholly responsible for the overall P&L of the product and/or programme.

The Senior Product Manager would be responsible for managing the product lifecycle for specific products (issuing and / or acceptance) and support in management of existing/ new payment programs across the group.  This role may require multi-product or multi-geography responsibilities.  

 

What you will do:

 

Product Management and Program Management

  •  Lifecycle Management: Responsible for the product life-cycle management and/or operational management of payment programs
  • Planning and Budgeting: Support in the development of the strategy, operational plans and budgets for specific payment products / payment programmes
  • Operational Performance: Responsible for the operational performance across agreed KPIs for the specific product / programme.
  • Supplier and Partner Management: Responsible for the day-to-day management of the product / programme including management of any partners or suppliers
  • Innovation: Responsible for operationalising the introduction of new technologies and innovation across existing and new payment products / programmes

 

Financial Management

  • P&L: Responsible for financial KPIs which directly contribute towards the P&L of the product and/or program
  • Business Case: Responsible for the development of any business case/ financial case for any investments/ expenditure for existing products/ programs
  • Cost Efficiency: Responsible to ensure all expenditures/ costs are incurred in the most effective manner.  

 

Project and Change Management

  • Project Management: Responsible for managing any launch of new payment products / programmes as per the agreed strategy, and accountable for the quality of service where required
  • Change Management: Responsible for managing the change lifecycle of any project/ initiative under the roles responsibilities (this would include engaging senior leadership across the organisation)
  • Subject Matter Expertise: Provide in-house payment expertise to existing and new 3rd party projects (i.e. wider group wide initiatives) 

 

Analysis & Reporting

  • External analysis: Responsible for regular market, competitive, pricing, portfolio, profitability analysis for products and programmes, and formulating recommendations and action 
  • Performance Reporting: Responsible for regular reporting / MIS on product / programme performance being managed by the role

 

Team and People Management

  • People Management: Responsible for the performance of any direct resources under their management 
  • Collaboration: Responsible to participate as a team member of the Cards & Payments Unit across the span and remit of the unit.

 

Required Skills to be successful:

 

  • Experience working in either a bank or fintech in credit or prepaid cards
  • Arabic speaking
  • Strong partnership and marketing experience
  • P&L experience

You will be reporting to GM - Cards and Payments 

 

 

What equips you for the role:

 

  • Bachelor degree.  Specialisation in either Product Management, Business Administration, Marketing or Economics.
  • 7-10 years’ experience across payments (issuing and / or acceptance), banking / financial services and / or consulting (preferably payments or financial services-related)
  • Fluent written and spoken Arabic and English required
  • 5+ years of product lifecycle management in financial services
  • Strategic Partnership Management
  • Understanding of the regulatory environment for payment products in Egypt
  • Management of teams.
