Overview of the role:

To monitor and manage systems and procedures to assure the health and safety of personnel working in facilities, in offices and at client and project sites. To promote compliance with environmental and safety regulations and ensure that the company’s Health, Safety, Security and Environmental programs meet local, state, provincial, federal regulations as well as client requirements. This role involves working closely with the heads of the business and HSSE to support approved programs and initiatives. Developing and executing strategic plans, coupled with strong influence to drive positive change. To implement, coordinate and manage Health, Safety, Security & Environmental operations and programmes in order to ensure full compliance of all Al-Futtaim Automotive facilities in all its operating regions with the standard regulation/requirements imposed by Government Authorities to provide safe and comfortable working conditions for the associates and customers. This also involves constant site visits to monitor and maintain the daily operations, which must be improved where necessary so as to eliminate all potential risks/hazards to which the people, property, assets and business may be exposed to. 

 

What you will do:

Loss Prevention
Increase HSSE related hazard/gap identification & reporting by 65% through regular Inspections & risk assessments on all assigned business units. Achieve a 45% reduction in preventable incidents by assigning appropriate Action Plans and implementing corrective and preventative measures to prevent loss of health, life, assets and reputation on the HSSE related gaps & Hazards that have been identified.
 

Emergency Preparedness & Response
Manage and improve the sites' compliance with the internal and governmental Firefighting & alarm system regulations to meet the basic requirements necessary to ensure the safety of people, property and assets in the unfortunate event of an emergency. Develop site specific emergency response actions. Plan, Organize, conduct and supervise Emergency Evacuation Exercises for all assigned sites. 
 

Initiation & Leadership of Change
Conceptualize, plan, organize and implement/action an HSSE oriented initiative (Program) in all Automotive BUs to drive significant improvements in companywide regulatory compliance, workplace environment conditions, standards, employee welfare and/or that which directly or indirectly increases savings. This initiative must result in ISO and OSHAS accreditation of the company.
 

Creation of a safety-first culture
Increase employee awareness in regards with relevant HSSE regulations, work related HSSE hazards and risks to which they are exposed, in addition to safe procedures and precautionary measures to control, reduce and/or eliminate the risk of such hazards and the procedures of cordoning and reporting of any identified defects in the system, equipment and tools through the company specified escalation channels.
 

Regulatory Compliance
Facilitate effective business support by constantly being up-to-date with the latest local and federal regulations (related to HSSE) to ensure full business compliance at all times in all branches across the country and protect the business from financial loss (i.e. accidents, legal claims, violations, etc.)

Effectively utilize and manage the available manpower and resources to create a positive workplace environment which promotes high performance and achievements. 
 

Learning, Development & Continuous Growth
Invest time and effort on a monthly basis to develop your knowledge, skills and expertise in the field of HSSE and operations management through all available resources. 
 

Required Skills to be successful:

  • Saudi national
  • Minumum of 5 years expericne in HSSE 
  • NEBOSH certifed 
  • Excellent communication skills

You will be reporting to Sr. Manager Goverment Relations 

 

What equips you for the role:

  • Bachelor’s degree graduate or higher. 
  • IOSH Managing safely and NEBOSH International General Certificate or equivalent are mandatory for the role
  • 5 years in Health & Safety, Security, Police, Civil Defense, Army or other similar roles. 
  • Ensure that strategic HSSE plans are aligned with corporate goals.
  • Through management of safety personnel, execute plans and contribute to overall strategies of HSSE.
  • Is a team builder and a coach.
  • Promote the professional development of direct report personnel.
  • Resolve problems and redeploy resources to address business needs.
  • Manage and implement Company’s HSSE programs; ensures that necessary programs are in place to reduce risk to employees.
  • Maintain compliance with all federal, state, provincial and local regulations to ensure alignment with broader organizational initiatives.
  • Manage and coordinate training programs and/or the audits of HSSE programs.
  • Serve as an advisor to first responder teams and other emergency services.
  • Serve as a resource for BU management and HSSE personnel.
  • Review occupational investigations to ensure that workplaces are free of HSSE hazards.
  • Ensure that corrective and preventative actions related to incidents, observations, audits, inspections are tracked and completed in a timely manner.
  • Verify compliance with health and safety regulations and ensures necessary records are maintained and prepared according to established guidelines.
  • Coordinate with other departments on health, safety, regulatory, personnel and legal matters as outlined in approved protocols.
  • Oversee, with the Legal Department, the participation in Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and other regulatory agency inspections, providing inspectors with appropriate documents and identifying safety measures as approved by the HSSE leadership and the Legal Department.
  • Represent the Company in third party, client or regulatory audits or inspections.
  • Act as coach and advisor to HSSE Managers and team regarding projects, tasks and operations.
  • Set objectives and delivers results that have a direct and measurable impact on the achievement of the Company’s HSSE goals.
  • Ensure adequate and timely management and communication of occupational incidents.
  • Ensure HSSE Managers and team are highly visible in the field performing high value activities, in coordination with local/site leadership. Activities shall include, but are not limited to: hazard identification, pre-job planning, hazard/risk assessments and management, behavioural observations with feedback, coaching, auditing, training, daily job briefings and tool box talks.
  • Contribute materially to the development of guidelines and procedures that impact achievement of results within HSSE.
  • Develop project safety plans, review contract language and complete client/contractor pre-qualification requirements.
  • Develop effective corrective action plans and/or mitigation plans, monitoring and ensuring proper execution or these plans.
  • In coordination with the Training & Awareness Executive, develop and deliver training programs to improve the quality of control and overall workplace HSSE standards.
