Job Title:                                            Legal Advisor

Reports to:                                        Legal Director

Business:                                           Al-Futtaim Construction

Location:                                           Dubai Motor City, Dubai, UAE



  • Reviewing Arabic litigation memoranda on a regular basis, reporting and briefing the business and amending/commenting whenever required;
  • Preparing legal documents to support AFC’s position in litigation proceedings, including working with the AFC commercial teams to identify and collate documentation for court/expert/arbitration proceedings;
  • Following up with external lawyers on daily basis in respect of the ongoing cases, submissions, updates, etc.;
  • Attending expert meetings and sites visits whenever required;
  • Attending to and reviewing all incoming Arabic documents of a legal nature whether received from the courts, notary public or otherwise and providing initial advice and guidance;
  • Contact with claimant’s lawyers when necessary;
  • Maintaining a number of regular internal reports for litigation and arbitration cases and minor claims;
  • Tracking progress on cases and monitoring key dates;
  • Liaising with Finance to ensure timely payment of dues under settlements and court processes;
  • Handling and finalizing the invoices of the law firms with required follow up;
  • Maintaining/reviewing fees budgets for external advisers;
  • Drafting any Arabic documents whenever needed;
  • Preparing translations from Arabic to English and vice versa whenever needed for whatever purpose;
  • Handling all minor claims with external parties and finalizing the same in conjunction with the business;
  • Communicating with Dubai Courts and Abu Dhabi Courts whenever required;
  • Researching for laws to support AFC’s position in the ongoing disputes.
  • Regular liaison with Group Legal litigation team on key cases.




Minimum Qualifications and Knowledge:

  • Working knowledge of one functional area through job experience & training
  • Qualified Law Graduate


Minimum Experience:

  • Likely to have 2-5 years business experience
