Overview Of The Role:
- The Deputy Manager is responsible for ensuring operational excellence within the store and supporting the Store Manager in achieving sales targets and positive P&L outcomes. The role involves maintaining brand compliance, fostering a teamwork-driven environment, and delivering exceptional customer service. The Deputy Manager will engage in sales analysis, drive competitive advantages at the store level, and manage stock and service standards to ensure optimum operational efficiency.
What You Will Do:
Sales
- Lead by example in delivering customer service, ensuring brand standards are met to maintain a strong company image.
- Review and analyze sales figures to identify opportunities for enhancing sales performance at departmental and business unit levels.
- Challenge the team to surpass business performance metrics and improve retail metrics.
- Engage with department colleagues to support local opportunities that enhance store sales growth.
- Analyze competitive landscape and identify opportunities to exploit at store level.
- Monitor and enforce scheduling for optimal store cover based on sales trends and customer demands.
Commercial & Visual Merchandising
- Deliver store standards and implement impactful, commercially focused events.
- Challenge the team on product presentation, ensuring compliance with business policies and seasonal launches.
- Ensure visual merchandising elements spotlight merchandise to enhance customer awareness of diverse product lines.
- Benchmark store standards against peer stores and competitors to create an aspirational shopping environment.
Stock Management
- Ensure adherence to SOPs for stock management, including shipment receiving, cycle counts, and transfers.
- Ensure the OPS team is well-staffed for efficient replenishment of best sellers, coordinating with Commercial and Merchandising teams.
- Regularly review top and bottom selling lines to ensure optimal store stock carrying for maximizing sales.
- Conduct routine reviews of stock management processes to identify risks and initiate action.
Service
- Model exceptional service standards, generating excitement and commitment to customer service.
- Respond to customer complaints with the priority of customer satisfaction.
- Ensure effective and compliant replenishment standards.
- Collect and act on customer feedback to drive service improvements.
- Lead internal assessments to ensure daily service standards are maintained and continuously improved.
- Ensure all employees complete required service training in alignment with business expectations.
Standards and Compliance
- Ensure the store's compliance with all legal requirements and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Conduct store self-assessment audits and review internal audit reports, developing action plans for compliance issues.
- Maintain a safe store trading environment, working with Health and Safety officers to manage risks.
- Report and resolve maintenance issues swiftly to company standard, escalating as necessary.
Loss and Prevention
- Ensure cash management procedures are understood and followed by all staff.
- Adhere to cash and security procedures, maintaining integrity in security log forms.
- Perform routine checks for security breaches in stockroom and shop floor.
- Deploy staff strategically to monitor high-theft risk areas, maintaining vigilance against shoplifting.
People Management
- Implement company policies for managing employee-related processes such as absence, leave, and discipline.
- Engage regularly with employees to foster strong working relationships and improve communication.
- Partner with the Store Manager and HRBP to ensure comprehensive staff training and performance reviews.
Required Skills To Be Successful:
- Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work towards set targets and KPIs.
- Strong organizational and management skills.
- Experience with fashion brands and a passion for retail.
What Qualifies You For The Role:
- Graduate degree in a relevant field.
- Over 8 years of experience in retail, preferably with fashion brands.
- Strong commercial acumen and leadership abilities.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer management skills.
