Job Description:
The Enterprise Architect (EA) will play a critical role in shaping and governing the enterprise-wide technology architecture for the Property & Casualty (P&C) Insurance business. This role focuses on Agentic AI adoption, digital solution architecture, API-first strategy, and core systems modernization, ensuring alignment between business strategy and technology execution.
The EA will act as a strategic partner to business leaders, product teams, and delivery organizations—driving a future-ready, AI-enabled, composable insurance architecture that accelerates time-to-market, improves operational efficiency, and supports new business models.
What you will do
1. Enterprise & Domain Architecture (P&C Insurance)
- Define and maintain the target enterprise architecture for P&C insurance across underwriting, policy administration, claims, billing, reinsurance, and distribution.
- Develop domain-level reference architectures aligned to business capabilities, value streams, and operating models.
- Ensure architectural consistency across lines of business while enabling controlled flexibility and innovation.
- Translate business strategy into clear architectural roadmaps and investment-guiding principles.
2. Agentic AI & Intelligent Automation
- Define the enterprise architecture for Agentic AI, including autonomous agents, orchestration layers, decision engines, and human-in-the-loop models.
- Partner with data, AI, and business teams to embed AI agents into core insurance processes (e.g., FNOL, claims handling, underwriting triage, fraud detection, agent assist).
- Establish guardrails for AI governance, ethics, security, explainability, and regulatory compliance.
- Drive reuse of AI capabilities via platforms, services, and APIs rather than point solutions.
3. Digital & Experience Architecture
- Architect digital platforms supporting omnichannel experiences for customers, agents, brokers, and partners.
- Guide the evolution of portals, mobile apps, workflow tools, and low-code/no-code platforms.
- Ensure digital solutions are scalable, API-driven, event-enabled, and aligned with experience and journey design.
4. API & Integration Strategy
- Own the API-first and event-driven architecture strategy across the enterprise.
- Define standards for REST, event streaming, and async integration patterns.
- Enable ecosystem integration with partners, insurtechs, intermediaries, and regulators.
- Govern API lifecycle, security, versioning, and developer enablement.
5. Core Systems Modernization
- Lead architectural strategy for modernizing core P&C systems (policy, claims, billing), including:
- Legacy decomposition and strangler patterns
- SaaS / packaged core platforms
- Microservices and composable architectures
- Ensure coexistence and transition strategies between legacy and modern platforms.
- Balance technical modernization with business continuity and regulatory obligations.
6. Architecture Governance & Delivery Enablement
- Establish and lead architecture governance, including standards, principles, and design reviews.
- Work closely with product owners, engineers, and delivery teams to ensure architecture is executable.
- Provide architectural decision support for major initiatives, vendor selections, and investment cases.
- Act as a technology thought partner for senior leadership and transformation programs.
Required Skills to be successful
Education
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Experience
- 12+ years of experience in enterprise or solution architecture roles.
- Strong experience in P&C insurance (carrier-side preferred).
- Proven track record in large-scale digital transformation and core modernization.
- Hands-on experience with API platforms, integration architecture, and cloud-native designs.
- Solid understanding of AI/ML architectures, with practical exposure to intelligent automation or agent-based systems.
Technical Knowledge
- Enterprise architecture frameworks (e.g., TOGAF, ArchiMate).
- Cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP).
- Microservices, event-driven architectures, and integration middleware.
- Core insurance platforms and ecosystem tooling.
- Data, AI, and analytics platforms (conceptual and architectural depth).
What equips you for the role
Desired Attributes
- Strategic thinker with strong business–technology translation skills.
- Comfortable influencing senior stakeholders without direct authority.
- Pragmatic, outcome-oriented architect—not ivory-tower.
- Strong communication and storytelling skills, especially for executives.
- Passion for AI-enabled transformation and future insurance models.
What Success Looks Like
- Clear, actionable enterprise and domain architectures aligned to business strategy.
- Scalable adoption of Agentic AI across core insurance processes.
- API-driven, composable architecture enabling speed and ecosystem integration.
- Controlled modernization of legacy cores with measurable business impact.
- Architecture seen as an enabler of value, not a constraint.
