Overview of the Role
The EV Charging Technical Lead would be responsible for the managing Al-Futtaim's EV Charging infrastructure (Home Charging & Flash Charging) across the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The role operates at the intersection of hands-on site execution, contractor governance, and structured technical reporting, ensuring every charger deployed under the Charge2Moov network is installed, commissioned, and maintained to OEM and regulatory standards.
Reporting to the Senior Manager – EV Charging, the position acts as the single point of technical accountability between field contractors, internal commercial and aftersales stakeholders, and KSA regulatory bodies including SE, SASO, and MOMRAH. The Technical Lead directly influences network uptime, customer satisfaction, and the scale-out roadmap of Al-Futtaim's EV charging ecosystem — a strategic pillar of the brand's KSA EV proposition.
What You Will Do
Field Operations & Technical Support
- Attend, investigate, and resolve customer complaints on AC home chargers and DC public chargers across all assigned sites within the Kingdom.
- Perform on-site diagnostics, fault rectification, and corrective maintenance to restore charger uptime within agreed SLA windows.
- Execute software upgrades, firmware patches, and configuration management activities on AC charger hardware.
- Carry out Level-1 maintenance and structured fault diagnosis on DC fast-chargers in line with OEM guidelines.
- Support commissioning and functional testing of newly installed chargers, issuing technical sign-off only after full verification against acceptance criteria.
- Conduct detailed site surveys and technical readiness assessments prior to DC charger installation.
Installation Oversight & Compliance
- Coordinate with SE-certified contractors to plan, schedule, and supervise AC and DC charger installations across showroom, retail, and customer sites.
- Monitor installation activities to ensure adherence to technical specifications, electrical safety standards (SASO / SE), and applicable MOMRAH regulations.
- Review contractor workmanship, raise non-conformance items, and track closure through to final acceptance.
- Manage the technical interfaces between civil, electrical, and networking trades on multi-discipline installation projects.
- Ensure zero safety or regulatory non-compliance incidents across all supervised installation activity.
Reporting & Documentation
- Prepare and submit structured technical reports to the Senior Manager – EV Charging covering installation progress, commissioning status, and field findings.
- Produce site survey reports, commercial quotation, and technical snag lists for every site visit.
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs, fault registers, and resolution records for every charger asset under management.
- Compile weekly and monthly dashboards tracking charger uptime, open faults, contractor performance, and installation milestones.
- Document escalation cases with clear root-cause analysis and corrective and preventive action recommendations.
- Ensure all field records are retained in the designated document management system in a timely and accurate manner.
Stakeholder & Contractor Coordination
- Act as the primary technical liaison between internal teams (Business Development, Aftersales, Commercial) and external contractors or vendors.
- Facilitate timely resolution of technical issues by escalating appropriately and tracking follow-up actions to closure.
- Support procurement with technical input on bill of materials, scopes of work, and contractor pre-qualification and evaluation.
- Represent EV Charging Engineering in project site meetings, client walkthroughs, and regulatory inspections.
Required Skills to Be Successful
- Strong technical diagnostic capability on both AC and DC EV charging hardware.
- Solid grounding in LV/MV electrical safety practices and site installation methodology.
- Analytical problem-solving mindset with a structured approach to root-cause analysis.
- Clear written and verbal communication for technical reporting and stakeholder updates.
- Effective contractor and vendor coordination with the ability to hold third parties to quality standards.
- Self-driven field execution capability — able to operate independently across multiple KSA sites.
- Structured reporting discipline and comfort building weekly / monthly performance dashboards.
- Resilience under pressure, flexibility on working hours, and willingness to travel extensively across the Kingdom.
What Qualifies You for the Role
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Power Systems, or a closely related technical discipline.
- 3–6 years of progressive field experience in EV charging systems, electrical infrastructure, or power distribution.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience with AC (Type 2 ) and DC fast-charger hardware from OEMs such as Siemens, Wallbox, ABB, or equivalent.
- Proven contractor supervision experience across multi-site installation programs.
- Working knowledge of Saudi Energy utility interface requirements, SASO product standards, and MOMRAH EV mandates.
- Familiarity with basic networking for connected charger infrastructure.
- Professional certification in EV charging systems, power electronics, or electrical safety is a strong advantage.
- Valid KSA driving licence and willingness to work field-based across the Kingdom.
- Business-level English essential; professional Arabic proficiency is an advantage for contractor and regulatory engagement.
