Overview Of The Role:
- The Sales Assistant is responsible for delivering a clean, tidy, and shoppable store environment that ensures customers have a complete shopping experience. The role involves driving sales to meet targets by utilizing effective selling techniques and thorough product knowledge. The responsibilities are focused on customer service, sales operations, product management, and maintaining store presentation according to corporate branding. Success in this role requires a proactive approach to inventory management and the ability to advise customers coupled with a strong focus on achieving financial targets.
What You Will Do:
Customer Service
- Provide high levels of customer service both internally and externally.
- Assist and advise customers professionally using product knowledge.
- Ensure a complete shopping experience for customers.
Sales Operations
- Operate point of sales (POS) systems as required, ensuring accuracy in all transactions.
- Drive sales to meet targets using selling techniques and product knowledge.
Product Knowledge
- Actively learn and understand product uses and benefits.
- Advise customers on the right products to meet their needs.
- Enhance revenue through add-on sales.
Inventory and Display
- Assist with receiving and displaying goods according to approved procedures.
- Ensure products are available for customer purchase.
- Comply with pricing and ticketing procedures to ensure accurate pricing.
Store Maintenance
- Apply merchandising principles to maintain a corporate image.
- Initiate and maintain cleaning programs for assigned departments.
- Ensure the store remains clean, tidy, and well-merchandised.
Event Support
- Participate in stock takes, new store openings, product launches, and seasonal events as needed.
Required Skills To Be Successful:
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent product knowledge and the ability to advise customers.
- Accuracy and attention to detail in sales operations.
- Ability to maintain store presentation standards.
What Qualifies You For The Role:
- Completion of Secondary school education.
- Minimum of 2 years experience in a retail environment.
- Proficiency in operating point of sales systems.
- Ability to manage inventory and apply merchandising principles effectively.
