UAE National - Supply & Inventory Planner

Overview Of The Role:

  • The Supply & Inventory Planner plays a crucial role in inventory control within Al Futtaim Automotive's Global Aftersales team. Responsible for balancing inventory costs with service levels, the planner manages stock valued at approximately 100 M USD in KSA. Main duties include purchasing inventory parts from vendors and improving stock turnover by reducing excess and obsolete stock risks. The role also involves planning, forecasting, and optimizing stock while coordinating logistics and payments for smooth operations.

What You Will Do:

Supply Planning and Procurement


  • Process daily, weekly, or monthly purchase orders.
  • Ensure orders are transmitted to suppliers and confirmation is received.
  • Ensure orders are dispatched within the agreed lead time.
  • Monitor and follow up on back orders.
  • Communicate changes in forecast to suppliers.
  • Prepare budget as per order schedule and business recommendations.
  • Ensure stock availability by performing risk of run-out analysis and ordering.
  • Plan and order parts for new models.
  • Obtain necessary approvals as per delegation of authority.

Stock Optimization


  • Review inventory policy and target service levels.
  • Continuous monitoring of aged stock.
  • Forecast stock provision needs.
  • Initiate and follow up on dead stock disposal.
  • Monitor and review excess and obsolete stock parts.

Logistics Operations


  • Create Advance Shipping Notifications timely, according to supplier invoices.
  • Provide data support to logistics to control inbounds and clearing documents on time.
  • Monitor cost charges within the agreed terms and conditions.
  • Manage logistics payments and update finance with relevant reports for payment clearance.
  • Follow up with finance for payments.
  • Arrange/Renew Letters of Credit.
  • Register customs claims and execute payments.
  • Coordinate ESMA/RFID approvals.
  • Declare cargoes for insurance.

Continuous Improvement & Business Intelligence


  • Create dashboards for process monitoring.
  • Perform kaizens and projects to reduce operational costs.
  • Advise on effective inventory control actions.
  • Escalate cases if processes are not under control.
  • Ensure on-time and under-budget delivery of projects.
  • Master agile ways of working.

System Utilisation


  • Continuously review system parameters to improve service levels.
  • Review system alerts such as demand flier, lead time, demand changes, and forecast alerts.
  • Evaluate risk of run-out.
  • Master processes applicable to business needs for enhanced efficiency and productivity.


Required Skills To Be Successful:

  • Experience in supply chain and inventory management, particularly in automotive.
  • Strong problem-solving and process improvement skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and ERP systems, particularly SAP.
  • Ability to develop and present management reporting packs and engage with senior leadership.

What Qualifies You For The Role:

  • Bachelor's/Master's degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Approximately 5 years of experience in Supply Chain, preferably in the Automotive sector.
  • Extensive knowledge of Inventory Management systems and business development.
  • Expertise in process improvement methodologies and developing management reporting packs.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word/Excel/PowerPoint/MS Project) and ERP systems like SAP.
