Overview Of The Role:

  • The HSSE Officer is responsible for enforcing health, safety, security, and environmental regulations to ensure compliance with local requirements. This role involves assessing and improving existing processes at assigned sites to meet required standards. The Officer must perform regular inspections, identify and rectify hazards, and maintain accurate records on compliance and safety. The position requires collaboration with site committees on safety measures, participation in audits, and management of emergency response and preparedness initiatives. Additionally, the Officer supports the development and implementation of safety training and awareness campaigns, ensuring that safety regulations and personal protective equipment use are adhered to across facilities.

What You Will Do:

Loss Prevention


  • Increase HSE-related hazard/gap identification and reporting by 65% through regular inspections and monthly update meetings with Site Safety Committees in all assigned business units.
  • Achieve a 45% reduction in preventable incidents by assigning appropriate Action Plans and implementing corrective and preventative measures.
  • Ensure all assigned sites are visited and inspected daily, closing identified hazards immediately or controlling them to prevent loss of life, assets, or reputation.
  • Maintain a daily track of action status for all items reported on the 'Site Compliance & Hazard Tracker' and ensure relevant committee members are informed.
  • Participate in HSSE Compliance Audits, recording a minimum of 120 observations per site, and communicate findings to Site Safety Committees for immediate improvement.

Emergency Preparedness & Response


  • Manage and improve sites' compliance with internal and governmental Firefighting & alarm system regulations.
  • Plan, organize, conduct, and supervise Emergency Evacuation Exercises for all assigned sites.
  • Conduct monthly 'Fire Safety Inspection' and maintain clear records and compliance status.
  • Ensure all assigned sites have trained and certified First Aiders & Fire Wardens in compliance with Local/Governmental Regulations.
  • Conduct monthly Emergency Response team meetings reviewing each site's emergency preparedness.

Documentation & Inventory Management


  • Maintain accurately updated HSE records for all assigned sites, including all relevant documents, certifications, and inventory details.
  • Ensure Emergency procedures and plans are reviewed and communicated to all assigned site personnel.
  • Ensure MSDS are available and prominently displayed for reference by associates working with hazardous chemicals.
  • Keep an up-to-date Risk Register and ensure it is communicated to all site personnel.
  • Support HSSE Compliance Controller by updating administrative records and sending confirmations.

Regulatory Compliance


  • Stay up to date with the latest local and federal HSE regulations and ensure full business compliance to avoid penalties.
  • Conduct random spot inspections and enforce PTW system policies to ensure third-party compliance.
  • Ensure no regulatory non-compliance notices or penalties are imposed by striving for highest workplace standards.
  • Review business unit compliance relating to Security systems and record findings for improvement.
  • Support the business in obtaining all necessary permits and certifications, ensuring HSE requirements are met for trade license renewals.

Learning & Development


  • Attend trainings, seminars, and workshops to enhance personal and professional growth in HSE.
  • Get accredited as an Incident Investigator and obtain IOSH - Managing Safety certification.
  • Aim to complete HSSE Flash Quizzes and get certified as a Fire Warden and First Aider.
  • Achieve an average score of no less than 70% in all learning evaluations.

What Qualifies You For The Role:

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Sustainability, or related scientific field such as Electrical/Mechanical/Chemical or Bioengineering.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in the field of HSSE or security experience considered a plus.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with attention to detail and the ability to prioritize tasks and manage conflicts.
  • Fluency in English for internal operations, with the ability to read and speak Arabic for communications with Government Authorities.
