Overview Of The Role:
The Swedish Food Market & Bistro Assistant role is crucial for supporting the Food & Beverages Manager in executing the IKEA Food Service Concept at various IKEA food locations. The role involves supervising daily kitchen operations and ensuring a high standard of service to enhance IKEA's position as a leading home furnishing store. In this role, success is measured by guest satisfaction, sales growth, and the operational efficiency of food services. The assistant plays a vital role in team leadership, guest interaction, commercial activity support, and financial oversight.
What You Will Do:
Customers
- Ensure guests are always in focus and strive to make them smile, showing empathy and care.
- Lead by example and be a good ambassador for the IKEA store in all guest interactions, encouraging them to return.
- Engage in daily dialogue with customers to get feedback and act based on their input.
- Empower and encourage the team to take immediate action to meet guest needs and continuously improve the service.
- Ensure guests have a great shopping experience at all times.
Commercial
- Support the store business plan and contribute to the area's action plan.
- Secure an attractive presentation and communication of the food range.
- Share product knowledge including content, origin, and benefits with customers and colleagues.
- Ensure top-selling products are available and clearly communicated and displayed at all times.
- Support relevant marketing and in-store activities, and implement range changes cost-effectively.
- Utilize quiet times for commercial activities to attract visitors and increase productivity.
- Maintain the area efficiently clean, organized, and inviting.
- Provide market input regarding range and pricing.
Steering the Business
- Work actively to achieve sales growth and reasonable profitability, ensuring guest and co-worker satisfaction.
- Monitor and control food and operational costs, productivity, sales mix, and recipe cost.
- Organize business area efficiently concerning financial performance, including profit, costs, planning, and absence management.
- Ensure implementation and follow-up of standard SOP rules and guidelines.
People
- Ensure co-workers in the area understand the IKEA Concept and key guidelines.
- Support and coach colleagues to meet customer needs and grow professionally.
- Create an environment where IKEA culture is strong and diversity is valued.
- Co-operate with colleagues from other store areas.
- Keep colleagues informed and encourage knowledge sharing.
Operations
- Perform tasks requiring prolonged standing.
- Ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene practices.
- Attend to customer needs and requests pleasantly.
- Ensure products are in perfect condition and correctly priced.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards at all times.
- Perform manual chores, including cashiering.

What Qualifies You For The Role:
- High School/Trade School Graduate, ideally in hotel, business, or culinary studies.
- Minimum 2-3 years of food service supervisory experience in a high-volume environment.
- A strong interest and knowledge of the culinary or food service industry.
- Proven customer focus abilities.
- Capacity to work in a high-volume, fast-paced retail environment.
- Possess analytical skills and multitasking capabilities.
- Proficiency with computers and technology.
