Overview Of The Role:

Senior MEP Manager is responsible for leading all Mechanical, Electrical, and Public Health (MEP) engineering activities across the project lifecycle, from design development through to testing, commissioning, and handover. The role ensures compliance with applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements while coordinating closely with the Project Director, consultants, contractors, and authorities to deliver projects safely, efficiently, and in line with quality, budget, and schedule objectives. A key focus of the position is proactive risk management and ensuring MEP systems fully support the overall project vision and operational requirements.


What You Will Do:

Full Project Lifecycle MEP Management

 

  • Lead MEP activities throughout the project lifecycle, from concept to handover.
  • Establish and maintain the overall MEP delivery strategy.
  • Provide technical leadership to the project team, consultants, and contractors.
  • Ensure MEP requirements are integrated with project needs early in the development.
  • Identify and mitigate technical, program, cost, and interface risks.
  • Advise senior project leadership on MEP-related matters.

 

Design Management and Coordination

 

  • Review and manage MEP design compliance with standards and regulations.
  • Coordinate MEP systems with architectural and other disciplines.
  • Review and approve design submissions, calculations, and documentation.
  • Ensure MEP systems are practical and aligned with project requirements.
  • Support value engineering and technical optimization processes.
  • Integrate MEP systems within overall design.

 

Construction Supervision and Project Delivery

 

  • Provide technical oversight of on-site MEP activities.
  • Monitor contractor performance and compliance.
  • Coordinate MEP works with other construction activities.
  • Review and monitor construction methodologies and technical submissions.
  • Ensure installation quality and adherence to standards.
  • Identify and resolve construction issues and interface risks.

 

Authorities and Regulatory Approvals

 

  • Coordinate MEP authority requirements and approvals.
  • Maintain relationships with Dubai and UAE authorities.
  • Ensure compliance with UAE and international regulations.
  • Coordinate authority inspections and approvals.
  • Address authority comments and ensure timely resolution.

 

Fire & Life Safety / Civil Defense

 

  • Coordinate fire protection, alarm, and emergency systems with MEP design.
  • Ensure compliance with fire strategy and Civil Defense requirements.
  • Coordinate testing and approval of fire safety systems.
  • Address Civil Defense comments promptly.

 

Sustainability and Energy Performance

 

  • Lead MEP contribution to sustainability objectives and LEED requirements.
  • Identify opportunities for improving energy and water efficiency.
  • Review performance of major building systems for sustainability.
  • Coordinate sustainable solutions across the project and wider district.
  • Identify opportunities for renewable energy and smart technologies.

 

Museum, Exhibition and Specialist Systems

 

  • Provide leadership on MEP requirements for museums and cultural buildings.
  • Understand and manage environmental conditions for exhibitions.
  • Coordinate MEP with curators and specialist consultants.
  • Ensure integration of specialist systems with infrastructure.

 

HVAC, Cooling Plant and Environmental Control

 

  • Provide oversight of HVAC and cooling systems.
  • Ensure cooling capacity meets project requirements.
  • Coordinate HVAC with architectural and exhibition needs.
  • Ensure system resilience and maintainability for critical spaces.

 

Procurement and Contract Management

 

  • Provide MEP inputs into procurement strategies.
  • Review MEP aspects of contractor proposals.
  • Support evaluations of MEP scope, variations, and changes.
  • Define MEP scope and responsibilities in contracts.
  • Manage specialist MEP subcontractors.

 

Testing, Commissioning and Handover

 

  • Lead MEP testing, commissioning, and handover strategy.
  • Ensure commissioning is integrated into project plans.
  • Review commissioning plans and procedures.
  • Coordinate integrated systems testing.
  • Oversee preparation of O&M manuals and asset information.

 

Risk, Quality and Program Management

 

  • Manage MEP-related risks and opportunities.
  • Maintain risk and opportunity register for MEP.
  • Support project program maintenance and delay mitigation.
  • Ensure quality and compliance of MEP works.
  • Monitor procurement and delivery of MEP equipment.

  • Strong leadership and project management skills.
  • Excellent understanding of complex MEP systems.
  • Experience with authority approvals and regulatory compliance.
  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and competing priorities.


What Qualifies You For The Role:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Building Services Engineering or related discipline.
  • 20+ years of relevant experience in major building and infrastructure projects, preferably in museum.
  • Experience in managing MEP delivery on large-scale, complex projects.
  • Strong understanding of UAE regulations and energy efficiency requirements.
