Overview Of The Role:
The Maintenance Assistant is integral in ensuring a safe, secure, clean, and functional environment for both visitors and coworkers, contributing to IKEA's brand image. The role involves maintaining the building, electro-mechanical systems, non-selling furniture, and the interior and exterior to keep them in 'shape as new'. Success in this position is defined by efficiency and effectiveness in performing maintenance functions, resolving breakdowns promptly, and optimizing facility operations through proactive engagement with facility management routines and safety standards. The Maintenance Assistant supports the organizational culture and collaborates with various departments to maintain operational excellence.
What You Will Do:
- Contribute to maintaining the store in 'shape as new' by performing building maintenance functions according to the planned maintenance process.
- Rectify breakdowns and complete work orders and preventative maintenance as scheduled.
- Perform and supervise all necessary modifications, renovations, and enhancements, providing technical and financial offers for operation spare parts, coordinating with third-party contractors/service providers.
- Implement Facility department routines and procedures by applying predictive, preventive, and reactive maintenance.
- Manage all maintenance activities related to electrical, mechanical, civil work, cladding, signage, lighting systems, and other maintenance tasks.
- Survey all MEP systems and equipment, validate system status and readings with original equipment/system parameters according to operation and maintenance manuals.
- Prepare various technical reports and progress review reports.
- Provide a safe work environment for all by following OSHA, local safety regulations, and IKEA risk manual guidelines.
- Follow and conform to HSE policies and standards at all times.
- Support and back up the HSM in evacuation drills and safety matters.
- Manage in-house activities while having overall responsibility for external supervisors and facility management technicians.
- Manage external contractors, evaluate their work, and certify contractor's invoices for payment.
- Secure materials for both MEP ordinary maintenance & MEP tasks as well as Civil & fixing construction comments.
- Foster a service-oriented approach with all departments.

Required Skills To Be Successful:
- Proficiency in using maintenance related tools and technology including data analysis software.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems including HVAC, firefighting, and electrical distribution systems.
- Ability to manage and coordinate activities with third-party vendors and internal teams.
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities, including active listening and sharing complex ideas clearly.
What Qualifies You For The Role:
- Diploma in technical industrial education in electrical or mechanical fields.
- Minimum of 4 years experience in maintenance and facilities management.
- Proficiency in chilled water supply systems and energy transfer stations (ETS).
- Knowledge and experience with mechanical systems, especially HVAC, firefighting, plumbing, and ventilation systems.
- Knowledge and experience with electrical systems, including lighting, power low voltage, medium voltage systems, and control equipment.
- Good knowledge of sustainability needs and development.
- Proficient in using computers, Microsoft Office, and data analysis software.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
