Overview Of The Role:
The Maintenance Assistant is crucial for ensuring a safe, secure, clean, and functional environment for visitors and co-workers. The role involves maintaining the building, electro-mechanical systems, and non-selling furniture to uphold the image and brand of IKEA. Success requires effective coordination with external contractors and departments to execute maintenance activities efficiently and ensure adherence to safety standards and the IKEA culture.
What You Will Do:
- Contribute to maintaining the store in 'Shape as new' by performing building maintenance functions according to the planned maintenance process.
- Rectify breakdowns and complete work orders and preventative maintenance as scheduled.
- Perform and supervise all modifications, renovation, and enhancement works when required, providing technical and financial offers for all operation spare parts, coordinating with third-party contractors/service providers.
- Implement facility department routines and procedures by applying predictive, preventive, and reactive maintenance.
- Work efficiently and simply to maximize department efficiency.
- Ensure a safe work environment by following OSHA, local safety regulations, and IKEA risk manual guidelines.
- Manage all maintenance activities related to electrical, mechanical, civil work, cladding, signage, lighting systems, and other maintenance work.
- Survey MEP systems and equipment, validating all system statuses and readings with original operation and maintenance manuals.
- Foster a service-oriented approach with all departments.
- Contribute to an environment where the IKEA Culture is a strong and living reality, embracing diversity of co-workers and customers.
- Follow and adhere to HSE policies and standards at all times.
- Manage in-house activities while overseeing external supervisors and facility management technicians.
- Manage external contractors, evaluate their work, and certify invoices for payment.
- Prepare various technical reports and progress review reports.
- Support in developing and reviewing HSM SOPs.
- Secure materials for both MEP ordinary maintenance and tasks as well as civil and fixing construction comments.
- Support and assist in evacuation drills and safety matters.
Required Skills To Be Successful:
- Proficiency in using computers and Microsoft Office.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Good leadership skills, including active listening and creative problem-solving.
- Knowledge of sustainability needs and development.
What Qualifies You For The Role:
- Diploma in technical industrial education (electrical or mechanical).
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in maintenance and facilities management.
- Familiarity with chilled water systems and energy transfer stations.
- Proficiency in HVAC, firefighting, plumbing, ventilation, electrical systems, and building management systems.
