Overview Of The Role:

  • The Customer Services Assistant - Cashier is responsible for providing excellent customer service at the checkout while ensuring transactions are processed accurately and efficiently. This role involves handling cash, checks, and electronic payments in accordance with established procedures, maintaining the checkout area, and representing the IKEA brand. Success in this position requires attention to detail, organizational skills, and a dedication to customer satisfaction.

What You Will Do:

Financial


  • Receive payments by cash, check, credit cards, vouchers, or automatic debits in accordance with SOPs.
  • Compute and record transactions, ensuring 100% accuracy for all register transactions.
  • Count and record the float before trading begins and upon close of trading.
  • Handle and ensure the safe custody of collected cash.

Customers


  • Ensure that customers are attended to well, fulfilling their needs and expectations.
  • Work efficiently and effectively to minimize queues at checkout areas.
  • Maintain clean and orderly checkout areas.
  • Ensure and maintain adequate stock of printed stationery at required stock levels.
  • Represent the IKEA brand at the required level and maintain store standards.
  • Improve customer service in the store and answer customer queries.


Required Skills To Be Successful:

  • Effective communication skills to engage with customers and solve inquiries.
  • High level of accuracy in handling cash and processing transactions.
  • Flexibility and punctuality to handle shifts effectively.
  • Analytical skills for computing and recording transactions accurately.

What Qualifies You For The Role:

  • High School diploma.
  • Commerce or accounting background is an advantage.
  • 1-3 years of experience managing till transactions.
  • Familiarity with computer use.
