Overview of the role:

The Senior Tax Accountant supports tax compliance, reporting, and audit activities across Al-Futtaim Real Estate entities, ensuring accurate filings, proper documentation, and alignment with Group tax governance. The role works closely with business units, the Group Tax team, shared services, external advisors, and tax authorities, while reviewing shared services outputs to ensure accuracy and support business requirements.

What you will do:

Compliance:

  • Ensure full compliance with Egyptian tax laws and regulations, including the timely submission of all tax returns within statutory deadlines.

Financial:

  • Support the management of the company’s tax position, maintaining or optimizing the effective tax rate (ETR) within industry benchmarks through compliant tax planning.

Risk:

  • Minimize variances between filed and assessed taxes during inspections.
  • Support the management and adequacy of tax provisions, including proper utilization and adjustments.

Accuracy:

  • Ensure zero penalties or late payment fees from tax authorities.
  • Provide accurate tax reports and analysis to support management and business needs.

Efficiency and Effectiveness:

  • Review and validate tax returns and forms prepared by the shared services team, ensuring accuracy and adherence to deadlines.
  • Identify discrepancies and implement necessary corrections to maintain compliance and improve processes.

Required Skills to be successful:

  • 3–5 years of experience in taxation, with at least 3 years within the real estate sector in Egypt.
  • Strong expertise in Egyptian tax laws, including Income Tax (91/2005), VAT (67/2016), and the Unified Tax Procedures Law (206/2020).
  • Advanced proficiency in the Egyptian Tax Authority e-systems (E-Invoicing, E-Filing, E-Receipt).
  • Strong experience in tax compliance, reporting, and audit support, with the ability to handle high volumes of data accurately.
  • Proficiency in SAP, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams), and Power BI; familiarity with AI tools is an advantage.
  • Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills, ensuring accuracy in tax calculations and reporting.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to represent the company in internal and appeal committees.
  • Ability to stay updated with frequent changes in tax regulations and proactively adapt to new requirements.
  • Strong teamwork, adaptability, and ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.

 

What equips you for the role:

  •  Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, preferably from an English section.
  •  Professional certifications such as CMA, DipIFR, or a local Egyptian Tax Diploma are highly preferred.
  • Membership in ESAA is considered an advantage.
  • Previous experience in a Big 4 firm or a reputable local tax organization is a plus.
  • Very good command of English (spoken, written, and reading).
