Overview of the role:
Support the Credit Control function by managing customer and tenant receivables, monitoring outstanding balances, and driving effective debt collection activities to support the organization's cash flow. The role is responsible for managing assigned debtor portfolios, ensuring timely collections, maintaining accurate financial records, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to resolve payment issues. The position plays a key role in minimizing credit risk, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures, and supporting the overall financial performance of the business.
What you will do:
- Manage an assigned portfolio of customer and tenant accounts, proactively monitoring outstanding balances and driving timely debt collection.
- Contact customers and tenants through phone, email, and written correspondence to negotiate payments, resolve outstanding invoices, and agree on payment plans where required.
- Evaluate delinquent accounts, identify collection risks, and recommend appropriate recovery actions to minimize bad debt and Days Receivable Outstanding (DRO).
- Maintain accurate records of collection activities, debtor balances, reconciliations, and financial transactions within ERP and related systems.
- Prepare and analyze aging reports, collection performance, and financial liabilities, identifying trends and recommending process improvements.
- Collaborate with Finance, Leasing, Legal, Shared Services, and other internal stakeholders to resolve billing queries, collection issues, and escalated accounts.
- Ensure compliance with credit control policies, contractual terms, company procedures, and regulatory requirements across all collection activities.
- Prepare periodic reports, support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities, and provide ad hoc reporting and analysis as required.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by enhancing collection processes, maintaining strong customer relationships, and driving operational efficiency.
Required Skills to be successful:
- 4-5 years of experience in Credit Control, Accounts Receivable, Accounting, or Finance, preferably within the real estate, retail, or property management sector.
- Proven experience managing debtor portfolios, collections, account reconciliations, and customer or tenant receivables.
- Strong understanding of credit control processes, financial reporting, aging analysis, and cash collection principles.
- Experience using ERP systems, preferably SAP or Yardi, with strong database management and reporting capabilities.
- Excellent planning, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with experience dealing with corporate clients, tenants, and internal business functions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, with strong reporting and data analysis capabilities.
