Overview Of The Role:
- The Legal Counsel at Al Futtaim Egypt is responsible for overseeing the company's legal functions and managing legal risks associated with both internal and external stakeholders. The role involves drafting and reviewing contracts, providing legal advice and consultancy, ensuring corporate governance across multiple affiliates, and supporting the Legal Manager in strategic legal planning and cost management. Success in this role requires strong legal acumen, effective coordination with various departments, and proactive management of legal initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and compliance.
What You Will Do:
General
- Draft and review contracts for various business departments including Retail, Treasury, Finance, Automotive, and Real Estate.
- Provide legal consultancy to all businesses and support functions, advising on risk management and compliance.
- Supervise and manage the corporate governance of 12 Futtaim Egypt affiliates, including board meetings, general assemblies, and ministry registrations.
- Support Legal Manager in strategic planning to reduce legal cases by 50%, aiming for 20 cases by Q4 2024.
- Implement legal projects across business departments, such as Archiving Project, Black Letter Project, and Lawyer Up training.
- Monitor compliance with internal governance policies, conduct investigations, and provide recommendations across all departments.
- Draft and finalize legal documents, ensuring compliance with Egyptian law and company policies.
- Manage mergers, acquisitions, and liquidations with external counsel, coordinating inter-department collaboration.
- Provide written legal opinions on compliance of draft documents with local legislation.
- Assist Legal Manager with annual budget allocation and cost-saving plans.
- Support the restructuring of companies within Futtaim Egypt, updating bylaws and official documents.
Required Skills To Be Successful:
- Strong understanding of corporate governance and legal frameworks.
- Proven track record in contract drafting and negotiation.
- Ability to provide strategic legal advice and manage stakeholder relationships.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
What Qualifies You For The Role:
- Bachelor of Laws degree; Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in corporate governance and contracts.
- Experience in real estate legal matters.
- Proficiency in managing legal projects and initiatives.
