Overview Of The Role:
- The Kitchen Production Junior Team Leader supports the development of IKEA Food by focusing on guest satisfaction and efficient food production. They lead by example, ensuring guests have a pleasant shopping experience and repeat visits, while also maintaining high standards in food quality and safety. They are responsible for steering commercial operations towards achieving departmental goals, including sales growth and competitive advantage. As a coach and resource for co-workers, the Junior Team Leader maintains strong knowledge of food products and aligns team efforts with business strategies to support overall IKEA store performance.
What You Will Do:
Guest Experience
- Ensure guests are always the focus, striving to make them smile.
- Lead by example and act as a good ambassador for the IKEA store in all interactions with guests, providing them with reasons to return.
- See the area through the guests' perspective and encourage feedback, taking action based on their input.
- Utilize knowledge of store services to assist customers.
- Ensure guests have a great shopping experience throughout the day.
Commercial Operations
- Contribute to the department's action plan by taking ownership of delivery responsibilities.
- Work in alignment with product sheets to ensure freshness, quality, and appealing range presentation that creates an irresistible food offer at all times.
- Produce food dishes at correct production levels to ensure freshness, maximize sales, and minimize waste.
- Passionate about products and actively learn about their content, origins, preparation, and benefits, sharing this knowledge with guests and colleagues.
- Identify top-selling products and ensure they are available, clearly communicated, and displayed at all times.
- Maintain awareness of stock situation and support sales steering towards supply.
- Ensure area of responsibility is always clean, tidy, organized, correctly priced, and stocked.
- Take interest in local competition and provide input to the manager that may help in promoting products showcasing competitive advantages.
People Development
- Coach co-workers and serve as a natural source of expertise on IKEA food range, product sheets, food safety, production planning, and food preparation.
- Ensure highest standards of presentation, quality, guest perception, and diligence to meet or exceed food safety requirements.
- Always available to help and support colleagues when needed.
- Keep colleagues well informed to enable effective performance in their roles.
Business Steering
- Contribute to making the IKEA store successful and achieve sales growth.
- Work towards agreed goals and take action accordingly.
- Understand the financial impact of actions and know which results are influenced.
- Seek more effective ways of working to reduce costs while being cost-conscious regarding waste, portion control, correct production levels, and inventory.
- Provide a positive guest experience through conscientious business practices.
Required Skills To Be Successful:
- Strong leadership and team development skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Proficient in MS Office and reporting tools.
- Excellent communication skills with fluency in English, Arabic is a plus.
What Qualifies You For The Role:
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Food Technology, Culinary Arts, or related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in food production, commercial kitchens, or food service operations with leadership experience.
- Strong knowledge of food safety standards, HACCP, and local regulatory requirements.
- Understanding of production planning, forecasting, and lean working methods.
- Proficiency in MS Office and reporting tools.
- Fluency in English; Arabic is an advantage.
