Overview Of The Role:

  • The IKEA FOOD TEAM LEADER assists the Food & Beverages Manager in executing the IKEA Food Service Concept across all areas, including the Restaurant, Bistro, Swedish Food Market, and co-worker restaurant. The role focuses on directing daily operations to uphold high standards and reinforce IKEA's position as the leading home furnishing store in the local market. Emphasis is placed on customer service, cost management, product knowledge, and fostering a strong organizational culture.

What You Will Do:

Customer Service


  • Ensure guests are always in focus, strive to make them smile, and serve them with empathy and care.
  • Empower team members to take immediate action to meet guest needs and improve customer interactions.
  • Lead by example and act as a good ambassador for the IKEA store in all guest interactions.
  • Maintain a daily dialogue with guests to continuously gather feedback and learn more about their needs.
  • Ensure guests have a great shopping experience throughout the day.

Business & Operations


  • Work towards agreed goals and take appropriate action to meet them.
  • Challenge costs by working in a lean, simple, and cost-conscious way, sharing good examples with the team.
  • Contribute to the store business plan and action plans, support seniors in implementing these plans.
  • Passionate about IFB products, learn about their content, origins, and benefits.
  • Ensure top-selling products are available, clearly communicated, and displayed at all times.
  • Support in implementing range changes in a simple and cost-effective manner.
  • Efficiently maintain an organized, clean, and inviting IFB area for a positive customer experience.
  • Provide input to IFB leaders on local market awareness related to range and pricing.
  • Ensure the implementation and follow-up of SOP rules and guidelines.
  • Support and coach colleagues on the job to meet customer needs and grow professionally.
  • Work actively to create an environment where the IKEA culture is valued, ensuring IKEA Food is a great place to work.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in other parts of the store.

What Qualifies You For The Role:

  • High School/Trade School Graduate, preferably in hotel, business, or culinary program.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years food service supervisory experience, preferably in a high-volume business.
  • Knowledge of culinary or food service industry.
  • Strong customer focus and ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced retail environment.
  • Analytical skills and multitasking capabilities.
  • Computer literacy and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven leadership abilities to lead by example and motivate co-workers.
  • Ability to speak and understand English.
