• The Commis role in the IKEA Food & Beverages division is focused on assisting cooks with daily food production, ensuring adherence to food safety standards, and enhancing the culinary experience for guests. This position requires maintaining a safe, efficient, and inviting environment that embraces IKEA values. Success in this role is measured by guest satisfaction, compliance with food safety regulations, and operational performance. The Commis supports the Chef, participates in staff development, and seeks continuous improvement while contributing to the store's commercial goals.

Customers

• Ensure our guests are always in focus and strive to make them smile. Meet and serve our guests showing empathy and care. Willing to listen and support them based on IKEA values.
• Lead by example and serve as a good ambassador for the IKEA store in all interactions with guests, encouraging them to return.
• Engage in daily dialogue with guests to obtain feedback and learn more about their needs and wants, acting on this input.
• Ensure our guests have a great shopping experience throughout their visit.

Commercial

• Coordinate food safety in the store and ensure that IKEA Food Safety programs are implemented and followed.
• Stay updated on current and upcoming national legislation on food safety.
• Ensure that all IKEA FOOD co-workers are familiar with CASY (incident reporting).
• Guide the IKEA FOOD Team in emergency management and incident response related to food safety.
• Initiate and follow up on investigations of incidents regarding national and international food range concerns.

People

• Collaborate with the Chef to increase knowledge and expertise in all areas of food production.
• Ensure correct use of equipment at all times, reporting any breakdowns or failures to the Chef.
• Attend and participate in training sessions as required.
• Perform other related functions that may be assigned from time to time.

Steering the Business

• Actively work to make the IKEA store successful, focusing on attracting visitors, achieving sales growth, ensuring guest satisfaction, and performing well on KPIs.
• Ensure the implementation and follow-up of SOP rules and guidelines.

Operations

• Implement systems and methods from IKEA Concept Documentation in the Restaurant, Bistro, and co-worker restaurant.
• Ensure all ingredients are available from stores and are of good quality.
• Ensure high-quality food production by following standard recipes and correct portioning.
• Follow all food safety rules and regulations to ensure safe production and storage.
• Maintain cleanliness of workstations per cleaning schedules.
• Assist in the preparation, cooking, and presentation of culinary dishes, enforcing strict health and hygiene standards.
• Ensure all equipment and machinery function according to standards and perform preventive maintenance as needed.
• Confidently handle food processing and use IKEA tools, manuals, and guidelines.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proven leadership abilities with the ability to motivate and develop team members.
• Ability to work effectively in a diverse and dynamic team setting.
• Strong understanding and commitment to food safety and hygiene standards.

• Minimum of 2 years experience in a service environment, ideally sales or hospitality.
• Secondary Degree.
• Interest and knowledge in culinary or food service industry.
• Strong customer focus and multitasking capabilities in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
