Overview Of The Role:
- The Commis is responsible for assisting cooks in the daily food production, ensuring food safety rules and regulations are followed to secure the safe preparation of meals. The role involves interaction with guests to ensure they have an exceptional shopping and dining experience at IKEA. The Commis oversees various operational tasks, including food safety coordination, equipment usage, ensuring quality food production, adherence to hygiene standards, and contributing to a successful high-performance store.
What You Will Do:
Customers
- Ensure our guests are always in focus and strive to make them smile. Meet and serve our guests with empathy and care, willing to listen and support them following the IKEA values.
- Lead by example and act as a good ambassador for the IKEA store in all contact with guests, giving them a reason to return.
- Initiate daily dialogue with guests to get continuous feedback about their experiences and act on their input.
- Ensure guests have a great shopping experience throughout the day.
Commercial
- Coordinate the area of food safety in the store.
- Ensure that IKEA Food Safety programs are implemented and followed in the store.
- Stay updated on current and upcoming national legislation on food safety.
- Ensure all IKEA FOOD coworkers are familiar with the incident reporting system CASY.
- Ensure the IKEA FOOD Team knows how to act in incidents through the Emergency Management Team.
- Initiate and follow investigations caused by incidents concerning national and international range.
People
- Actively work with the Chef to increase knowledge and expertise in all areas of production.
- Ensure the correct use of equipment at all times and report breakdowns or failures to the Chef.
- Attend and participate in training sessions as required.
- Perform other related functions as assigned.
Steering the Business
- Work actively to make the IKEA store successful by attracting visitors, achieving sales growth, ensuring guest and coworker satisfaction, and maintaining operational performance as per KPIs.
- Ensure the implementation and follow-up of SOP rules and guidelines.
Operations
- Implement systems and methods stated in IKEA Concept Documentation in the Restaurant, Swedish food market, Bistro, and coworker restaurant.
- Ensure ingredients are available from stores and are of good quality to produce food timely.
- Ensure high-quality food production by following standard recipes and using correct ingredients.
- Strictly follow portioning and recipe systems.
- Follow food safety rules and regulations for safe food production and storage.
- Maintain cleanliness of work station according to cleaning schedules.
- Responsible for food production preparation as allocated by the Chef.
- Direct preparation, cooking, and presentation of dishes; enforce health and hygiene standards and troubleshoot problems.
- Confidently work with the food handling process.
- Ensure equipment and machineries operate to highest standards and support preventive maintenance procedures.
- Utilize IKEA Concept, tools, manuals, guidelines, and best practices.
Required Skills To Be Successful:
- Strong customer service orientation and ability to ensure guest satisfaction.
- Proficiency in multitasking and operating in a fast-paced environment.
- Sound knowledge of food safety standards and practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with guests and coworkers.
What Qualifies You For The Role:
- Minimum of 2 years experience in a service environment, ideally sales or hospitality.
- Secondary degree.
- Interest and knowledge of the culinary or food service industry.
- Strong customer focus and ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced retail environment.
- Multitasking capabilities and computer literacy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build working relationships and understand English.
- Proven leadership abilities and ability to motivate and develop others while upholding IKEA values.
