Overview Of The Role:

  • The IKEA FOOD Cashier is responsible for operating cash registers and maintaining clean and orderly checkout areas, while providing exceptional customer service. The role requires adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) including counting and recording floats to minimize losses, and supporting guests through empathetic service. Cashiers must also be knowledgeable about commercial activities and assist IFB coworkers when necessary. Success entails ensuring guests have a positive shopping experience, contributing to sales growth and profitability, ensuring the satisfaction of guests and co-workers, and optimizing operational performance through KPI measurements.

What You Will Do:

Customers


  • Ensure guests are always prioritized and strive to make them smile.
  • Meet and serve guests with empathy and care, listening to their needs.
  • Lead by example and act as an ambassador for the IKEA store to ensure customer return.
  • Have daily dialogues with guests to gather feedback and learn more about their needs.
  • Ensure a great shopping experience for guests throughout the day as per company guidelines.
  • Work efficiently and effectively to minimize queues.

Commercial


  • Responsible for proper cash handling and accurate sales processing using cash registers and scanners.
  • Use selling techniques to boost sales and stay updated on current and upcoming IFB activities.
  • Be knowledgeable about the IFB Menu and food safety legislation.
  • Ensure payments are processed quickly and accurately.
  • Assist other IFB co-workers as needed.
  • Ensure the IKEA FOOD Team knows how to act in case of an incident through the Emergency Management Team.

People


  • Work with the Chef to increase knowledge and expertise in all production areas.
  • Ensure the correct use of equipment and report breakdowns or failures to the Chef.
  • Attend and participate in training sessions as required.
  • Perform additional related functions as assigned.

Operations


  • Work to make the IKEA store successful by attracting visitors and achieving sales growth.
  • Ensure implementation and follow-up of SOP rules and guidelines.
  • Receive payments by cash, check, credit cards, vouchers, or automatic debits and follow SOP for cash handling.
  • Compute and record transactions with 100% accuracy for all register transactions.
  • Count and record the float before trading begins and upon close of trading.
  • Handle cash safely and securely.

  • Proven leadership abilities to lead by example and motivate co-workers.
  • Ability to implement and follow SOPs for cash handling accurately.

What Qualifies You For The Role:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in service environments, ideally in sales or hospitality.
  • Secondary Degree required.
  • Interest and knowledge in the culinary or food service industry.
  • Ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced, and constantly changing retail environment.
  • Computer literacy and multitasking capabilities.
