Overview Of The Role:
- The IKEA FOOD CASHIER role involves operating a cash register, providing excellent customer service, and maintaining the checkout area. You will engage with guests to ensure they have a positive experience while following standard operating procedures to minimize financial losses. Success in this role requires efficient handling of cash transactions, thorough knowledge of IKEA food offerings, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team to meet sales goals and operational KPIs.
What You Will Do:
Customer Service
- Ensure guests are always in focus and strive to make them smile, demonstrating empathy and care.
- Lead by example as a good ambassador for the IKEA store, giving guests a reason to return.
- Engage in daily dialogue with guests to gather feedback and act on their needs and wants.
- Ensure a great shopping experience throughout the day as per company guidelines.
- Work efficiently to minimize queues and maintain orderly checkout areas.
- Ensure customers' needs are satisfied and that they receive optimal service.
Commercial Activities
- Handle cash properly, processing sales accurately using cash registers and scanners.
- Utilize different selling techniques to boost sales.
- Stay updated on current and upcoming IKEA FOOD & BEVERAGES (IFB) activities.
- Be fully knowledgeable about the IFB Menu and food safety legislation.
- Process customer payments quickly and accurately.
- Initiate and follow up on investigations related to national and international range incidents.
People Management
- Work with the Chef to increase expertise in all areas of production.
- Ensure correct equipment use and report any breakdowns to the Chef.
- Attend and participate in training sessions.
- Perform other related functions as assigned.
Operations
- Contribute to making the IKEA store successful by attracting visitors, achieving sales growth, and ensuring guest satisfaction.
- Implement and follow up on SOP rules and guidelines.
- Receive payments by various methods while ensuring adherence to cash handling SOPs.
- Record transactions accurately and manage the float before and after trading.
- Ensure safe custody of collected cash.

What Qualifies You For The Role:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a service environment, preferably in sales or hospitality.
- Secondary Degree required.
- Strong interest and knowledge in the culinary or food service industry.
- Must have a strong customer focus and ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced, and constantly changing retail environment.
- Proven multitasking capabilities and computer literacy.
