Overview of the role

The Assistant Manager – Company Secretary & Legal will be managing legal and regulatory compliance, supporting corporate governance, ensuring adherence to laws, aids in documentation and contracts, and provides legal advice to stakeholders.

 

What you will do

  • Responsible for defining and ensuring compliance with organizational polices, codes of conduct, legal standards and maintaining effective corporate governance practices.
  • Working closely with the board of directors, ensuring transparency and ethical decision – making.
  • Preparing board documents, maintaining records, and always ensuring compliance.
  • Handling sensitive legal matters and safeguarding sensitive information with stakeholders.
  • Drafting various legal documents including contracts, agreements, and corporate governance documents.
  • Closely working with external legal counsel or in house counsel to strategize the organization’s different and resolution strategies.
  • Adapt to new legal challenges and ensure smooth transaction.

 

What equips you for the role

  • Should be an Attorney- at law, registered company secretary, notary public.
  • Minimum 03 years’ experience in a similar capacity involving legal and company secretarial responsibilities.
  • Demonstrates hands-on experience in legal practice, including contract drafting, negotiations, and legal research.
  • Prior experience in company secretarial duties, including preparing board documents, maintaining records, and ensuring compliance.

 

Required skills to be successful

  • Stay abreast of industry trends.
  • Excellent communication skills and negotiation skills.
  • Proficiency in Tamil would be an added advantage.
  • Exhibits leadership qualities and the ability to influence legal decisions and practices positively.
  • Demonstrates honesty and ethical behavior in all actions and decisions.
  • Maintains a professional demeanor and acts as a representative of the legal department.
  • Excellent organizing and presentation skills.
