Overview Of The Role:
The IKEA Food Representative supports the IKEA FOOD function in driving sales through effective selling and merchandising in a fast, friendly, and efficient manner. This role strengthens IKEA store's position as the best home furnishing store in the local market by providing exceptional customer service, operating cash registers, and maintaining clean checkout areas. The role requires adherence to strict SOPs, including cash handling protocols and contributing to sales growth through strategic merchandising and customer engagement.
What You Will Do:
Commercial
- Contribute to the IFB Activities in the Store Commercial Calendar.
- Ensure all IFB articles are merchandised and presented according to IKEA standards and are properly labelled and priced.
- Understand and use different selling tools to boost the average transaction and items per transaction, thereby contributing to sales.
- Compute and record transactions ensuring 100% accuracy for all register transactions.
- Process customer payments quickly and accurately following SOPs.
- Count and record the float before trading begins and after trading ends to reduce losses.
Operational
- Ensure that IFB units are ready before the store opens.
- Participate in monthly stock take and facilitate inventory control of all IFB articles around IKEA FOOD and the IKEA store.
- Adhere to guidelines on IFB operation and commercial growth review, ensuring operational checklists are done and action plans implemented.
- Provide a positive shopping experience with high customer service standards and maintain cleanliness.
- Engage in daily dialogue with guests to obtain feedback and share with the line manager.
- Ensure and maintain adequate stock of printed stationery and tools.
- Report incidents or complaints concerning the range to the line manager.
- Work with the Chef to increase knowledge and expertise in all production areas.
- Maintain clean and orderly checkout areas.
Training & Development
- Lead by example as an ambassador for the IKEA store in all interactions with guests.
- Attend and participate in training sessions as required.
- Stay updated on current and upcoming national legislation on food safety.
- Meet and serve IKEA guests with a smile, showing empathy, care, and willingness to listen.

What Qualifies You For The Role:
- High School/Trade School Graduate.
- 3 to 5 years in a similar role.
- Minimum 2 years experience in a service environment, ideally in sales or hospitality.
- Fluency in English and local language.
- Interest and knowledge in retail, culinary, or food service industry.
- Strong customer focus and multitasking abilities.
- Ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced, and constantly changing retail environment.
- Awareness of food safety basics.
