Job Description:
To manage end‑to‑end reinsurance (R/I) accounting operations, including payments, bank transfers, receipting, matching, and reconciliations, while providing operational support to R/I Accountants and ensuring accurate financial reporting in line with insurance accounting standards.
What you will do
Reinsurance & Financial Accounting
- Handle all payments, bank transfers, matching, receipting, and reconciliations related to Reinsurance (R/I) accounts.
- Maintain accurate accounting records for reinsurance premiums, recoveries, commissions, and balances.
- Perform regular bank, ledger, and account reconciliations, investigating and resolving variances promptly.
- Support R/I Accountants in treaty and facultative accounting activities, as required.
- Ensure timely and accurate posting of accounting entries in accordance with insurance accounting practices.
Operational Support & Controls
- Assist in month‑end and year‑end closing activities related to reinsurance accounts.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, audit requirements, and regulatory guidelines applicable to insurance companies.
- Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders (banks, reinsurers, brokers) to resolve discrepancies.
- Prepare supporting schedules and documentation for internal and external audits.
- Carry out any other finance or accounting tasks assigned from time to time.
Required Skills to be successful
- B.Com or equivalent qualification (mandatory).
- 7–10 years of experience in accounting within the insurance industry, with strong exposure to reinsurance accounting.
- Solid understanding of insurance accounting principles, particularly R/I transactions.
