About the Position:

The Director of Arabic Studies will promote high quality education emphasising on providing linguistic proficiency and understanding of culture, history and politics in the UAE and beyond. The Director is expected to advance the School’s mission by attracting, mentoring and retaining the highest quality faculty, expanding and broadening the school’s research activities and funding, maintaining innovative educational programs and fostering public engagement and outreach.

The Director of Arabic Studies will also act as a Senior Adviser to the Senior Leadership Team in the Group and act a mentor for students enrolled in the Arabic Studies program.

He/she will be a key member in promoting Arabic language and culture across the Education Foundation and the Group.

As an active member of the Al-Futtaim Group and the Education Foundation, the Director of Arabic Studies has the responsibility of leadership of the academic program and activities associated with Arabic Studies.

Key accountabilities will include: 

  • Provide leadership, guidance and direction to the Schools and the Group regarding Arabic Studies.
  • Champion the teaching mission of the School’s Arabic Studies program, including engagement of the student community.
  • Contribute to the teaching, curriculum and program development.
  • Provide guidance on matters related to recruitment, retention, management and development of faculty.
  • Lead a team of academically strong and diverse individuals
  • Develop, articulate and execute a clear vision of the Arabic Studies that is inclusive of the mission of the Education Foundation.
  • Actively encourage and support the professional and academic development of the faculty.
  • Establish relationship of trust, collaboration and respect between faculty, Group, and the community.

Through exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, the Director of Arabic Studies will assure that the Education Foundation and its mission and programs are consistently presented in a strong and positive image to relevant internal and external stakeholders.

This role is based in Dubai and reports to the  Managing Director - Al Futtaim Education Foundation.

 

About You:

The succesful candidate should meet the below requirements: 

Minimum Qualifications and Knowledge

Master’s degree in Arabic Studies or a related academic disciplinary area from an accredited university.

Minimum Experience:

10 years of experience in teaching and leading Arabic Studies, preferably both internationally and in the GCC region. The successful candidate must possess an outstanding teaching and leadership track record. He/she should possess a record of success, innovation and engagement, with a high level of academic and professional awareness.

Job-Specific Skills

Excellent knowledge of the Education sector. Superior communication skills in Arabic to successfully represent the Foundation.
