About the Position:

The Head Digital Marketing & Online Trading oversees the digital marketing & commercial strategy for eCommerce and is fully accountable for leading customer and trading activities across all Web channels for the overall Al Futtaim Retail eCommerce business. These activities include:

  • eCRM/eMail marketing
  • Performance Marketing (Display Advertising/Programmatic, Affiliates, Paid Social)
  • Search Marketing - Paid and Organic Search (SEO)
  • Planning and Delivery of the Online Promotional Calendar
  • Digital Intelligence and Analytics
  • Design and Creative for all digital marketing activities (e.g. online only promotions/customer newsletters/display banners)

 The JH will also be accountable to lead, manage, coach and mentor a Digital Marketing team of 10 individuals

This role reports directly to the General Manager Commercial & Marketing eCommerce. The JH has full accountability for all digital marketing activities and plays an important and strategic role in helping to shape the development of the eCommerce business for Al-Futtaim across the MENA and SEA regions.

About You:


Minimum Qualifications and Knowledge:

  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent certification in Marketing, Retail Management or related field – a Masters or Qualified member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) would be an advantage.
  • Demonstrable experience and accountability in leading and managing Affiliate Marketing, SEO/SEM, marketing database, email, social media and/or display advertising campaigns
  • Solid knowledge of website analytics tools (e.g., Coremetrics, Google Analytics, NetInsight, Omniture, WebTrends)

  • Solid knowledge of internet technologies and the online advertising sales market

  • Up-to-date with the latest trends and best practices in online marketing and measurement


    Work Experience required

  • 10+ years of extensive digital marketing experience at management level that can demonstrate a track-record in delivering advertising sales revenue targets that are not only achieved but exceeded. A highly motivated sales professional with a proven record of success across multi-platforms

  • 12+ years of experience managing high performing teams
  • Experienced in preparing, monitoring, analyzing and delivering detailed financial plans
  • Highly developed written, verbal and presentation & interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with stakeholders and colleagues at the highest level.


    Job-Specific Skills:

  • Highly creative with experience in identifying target audiences and devising digital campaigns that engage, inform and motivate
  • A good understanding of The Middle East / Asia marketplace
  • Significant experience in setting up and optimising Google Adwords campaigns
  • Strong analytical skills and data-driven thinking, Solid financial acumen and business expertise

  • Prior accountability for delivering revenue through ecommerce or related activities, including strategy, planning, testing and optimizing campaigns and results
  • Experience leading, planning and executing website testing/optimization plans, as well as web analytics/reporting that provide actionable business insights
  • Ability to communicate strategy and tactical details, including complex technologies and concepts to stakeholders and leadership using conversational language.


     Customer and Industry Knowledge

  • Experience working in matrixed environments where influence and collaboration are dominant behaviors for success
  • Deep knowledge of web production phases, including requirements definition, interaction design, visual design, search optimization, functionality and maintenance
  • Demonstrated history of innovation, delivering creative and usable digital experiences across desktop and mobile platforms
  • Thorough understanding of web and mobile technologies, standards and best practices
