“I’ve lived in Dubai for the last three years and I think it’s the most incredible city in the world! Everything really does seem to be either the biggest or the best!

Moving abroad was a big step for me, but I don’t regret it for a moment as I have had the opportunity to learn so much through living and working in another culture and to develop my career further at the same time. Also, the security of moving overseas with a company like Al-Futtaim was of great reassurance to me and to my family back at home. My parents are now frequent visitors to Dubai and are eagerly awaiting their next visit!

Life in Dubai can be both rewarding and frustrating, but as in any country, a little patience and good manners go a long way. There are a few drawbacks, such as the traffic and it takes forever to get a taxi, but that is similar to any modern metropolis like London or New York. The fact that I can go to the beach at the weekends and shop in the most amazing shopping malls with the best international brands are my personal favourite things about life in Dubai. I have a very stimulating and challenging career with Al-Futtaim and I am constantly learning new things as no two days are ever the same. It seems as though I am personally evolving as much as the city of Dubai is!”

“There are many similarities between Mumbai and Dubai, but I love both cities equally now. For me, Mumbai will always be my home, but Dubai is my family’s ‘adopted’ home now. We have lived here for seven years and plan to stay as long as we are able to.

Everybody constantly talks about the cost of inflation and rising prices, but I think if you compare Dubai to other major cities like Mumbai, Toronto or Hong Kong, everything is relative and we do enjoy a good standard of
living here.

Quality of life is very important to my family, especially as I have two young children and we find that we are able to achieve the right balance between work and family time. As a busy working mum, I like nothing better than taking the children to the park at the weekend for a picnic with our friends and to play some games outdoors. In the summer months when it’s hot, we go on trips to the museums in Sharjah or to the water parks as a
special treat.

My career with Al-Futtaim provides me with the stability and security to bring up my young family in a safe and positive environment. I enjoy my work and feel valued as a member of the team – it’s a rewarding challenge which allows me to balance my professional life with the demands of raising a young family. I get great personal
satisfaction from achieving both.”
